Viewing An Office? Here Are Three Things You Must Look Out For

We all want our business to be a success. If you start up a business, then success and growth is always at the front of your mind. Most businesses start off small, and will grow into something big. When your business experiences huge growth, it may become too big for your current office. This means you’ll need to move!

Finding a new office can be tough because you’re often looking for something very specific to your business. But, there are still some things that you should look out for in every office.

Here’re my top three things to consider before moving into a new office:

Safety

You have to make sure that your new office abides by safety rules and regulations. This means getting a company like Plansafe in to survey the building. All the fire exits have to be in working order, and they will check for things like asbestos too.

Also, you need to make sure your employees will feel safe at work. So, you’ll have to make sure that the office security is up to scratch. If it isn’t, then you’ll need to install new security features; these can be Security System Installations such as burglar alarms, fire alarms, video surveillance and so on. The safety and security of your new office should be the number one priority.

Space

Another big thing to think about is whether or not there’s enough space in the office. Empty spaces always look big, which can be a bit misleading. If possible, try and view offices that still have all the equipment in them. This way you’ll be able to more accurately judge if it’s big enough.

Size and space are very important to an office. You have to have a working environment that’s comfortable. If there’s not enough space, then it can feel cramped and horrible. Also, if there’s too much space, it can be just as bad. You could feel distant from everyone you’re working with, and it will ruin the atmosphere. It’s hard to work in an office when the size isn’t quite right.

Accessibility

How accessible is the office you’re viewing? Can people easily find it? If you find an office, make sure that it’s easy for people to visit. You don’t want clients and employees struggling to get to it. Ensure that it’s in a building that’s within a decent distance of public transport stations. This makes it far more accessible to everyone.

Don’t forget the accessibility of the actual office itself. If it’s on a high floor, are there ways to get up there with ease? Some people can’t walk up lots of stairs every day, so there needs to be a lift available. Also, consider if it has access for disabled people too. Are there ramps that make it easy for people in wheelchairs to move around?

If the office you’re looking at doesn’t tick all three of these boxes, then wave goodbye. These aren’t three little quirks that would be nice to have; they’re essential! An office has to be safe, have suitable space and be accessible to everyone. When you go office hunting, these are the three key things you have to keep in mind.
