The daily running of an office depends on a lot of different factors. Of course, there will need to be someone in charge to make sure everything runs okay. But there are practical elements involved too that are just as important. Sure, things like air conditioning and chill out areas are important for the staff. But you need to think about the most practical ways to help run the business as well. Have a look at these four office essentials that often get ignored. They will help you to make sure your office runs in the smoothest, most efficient way possible.

1. Stationery

The one thing you’ll be using every single day at work is stationery. And it might not have occurred to you but this is an important part of running your business. Almost every part of your working day will involve the use of some stationery. It might be pens, paper or scissors. But there’s no doubt you’ll use something. Because of this you need to make sure that you’re stocked up on stationery as often as possible. In the office things like pens have a way of going missing all too often. You want to make sure you have enough supplies. Paper is hugely important to the business. If you’re not handwriting something, you’ll be printing documents and filing them. Stock up on plenty of paper because you’ll go through loads each day.

2. Trays

Never underestimate the importance of a filing system. It’s paramount that you have a system where you can store documentation. One of the best ways you can do this is by using trays. These are essential for organising paperwork and keeping up with where everything is. Wire trays made by Ampwire look trendy, will complement the office and are useful too. You might want to have a few of these trays for different purposes. Some might be for outgoing paperwork. You could have one for incoming. Then you might even want to set up a staff tray in which you can put anything important so your staff can take copies.

3. Cable Ties

One of the biggest pains, when you have a lot of cables, is that they invariably get tangled. They can take up a lot of space underneath desks, and people might yank them or pull them out with their legs. The point is, cables are a nuisance. You might think there’s no way around it, but you’d be wrong. You can get cable ties to help you. These must be considered an office essential. Cable ties are an ingenious way of bunching all the cables together and fastening them, so they don’t hang loose. By using these ties, you’ll save more space, and you’ll protect your equipment.

4. Plug Sockets

You need to remember that plug sockets are one of the most important devices you can have in the office. Almost everything these days runs on machines. Computers, phones and printers will need plug sockets. Then there are fax machines, phones and utilities. Almost everything you use in your business will require the use of sockets. But often this gets underestimated, and you might get to a situation where there aren’t enough sockets in the office. Make sure you deal with this problem by getting extra ones installed wherever you can. You should take the approach that there’s no such thing as too many plug sockets. Also, try to keep a stash of extension sockets just in case!
