It’s no secret that growing businesses need more office space. After all; they have to hire more employees and get more IT equipment. Many company bosses assume they need to move to a bigger office so their businesses can expand.
The truth is, there are plenty of ways to make space for new employees without moving address! As you can imagine, your costs will rise if you have to move premises. Let me share with you some secrets to maximizing your office space for new workers:

Scan your documents and save them in the cloud
One unfortunate truth about most businesses is they tend to keep a lot of paperwork. You might think they need to keep “hard copies” of documents for legal reasons. But, the truth is it’s possible to keep only digital versions of them.
Services like Dropbox make it easy to keep your company’s documents safe and secure in the cloud. You can also integrate cloud storage services with your in-house system too.
Shred the documents you don’t need
Quite often we will keep a lot of obsolete or irrelevant paperwork in our offices. They then end up getting stored in archive boxes stacked up on-site!
All that unneeded paper is taking up valuable office space that you need for your new employees. It’s time to do something about it! The easiest option is to start shredding them! You can do the work yourself using a shredder, or get a third party to do it for you.
Shredding unwanted paperwork will ensure it doesn’t end up in the wrong hands.

Organize your storage space
Once you’ve got rid of the paper, you need to start thinking about the layout of your office. I am willing to bet that, in its present state, it’s not making the best use of space. In particular, I am talking about the places where you store things.
The good news is you can do something about the problem by organizing your storage space. For example, you can invest in some bookshelves from Ikea in a color of your choosing. They are cheap, sturdy and easy to assemble. Just don’t blame me if you find other nice things to buy from Ikea during your visit!
Do you have a small office? If so, you will need to get creative with your storage solutions. There are many things you can do, such as make use of vertical space. And don’t forget to consider shelves too.
Replace separate IT devices with all-in-one units
Do you have plenty of scanners, printers, and photocopiers? If so, get rid of them all! In their place, you should install some capable all-in-one units.
The products available range from desktop units to floor-standing ones, depending on your needs. Upgrading to such devices means that you have more usable desk space for your new workers.

Go for an open-plan layout
Another way to get more employees in the same space is to opt for an open-plan layout. It’s no secret that individual offices take up a lot of valuable space. By going open-plan, you can also encourage a more open working environment.
Good luck!
