You did it! You finally arrived! You are living the career of your dreams, making the big decisions, taking on the responsibilities of a budding business woman. It’s long hours and a lot of work, but you are happy and making a huge difference. You are also tired. Your long hours do not allow you to sleep as much as you should and you have a family to take care of, too. Life might be going the way you always hoped it would, but even Superwoman needs a way to take a break and recharge her batteries. So do you, but you don’t have time for a week long vacation. Here are three things you can do to ease the pressure.
Take a Nap
It’s already a well-known fact that a 30-minute power nap in the middle of your work day is helpful for production. It helps get rid of that mid-shift brain fog, helping you concentrate better, and helps boost your mood, making it easier to handle the not-so-productive members of your team with a smile. Taking a longer nap on your off day is advisable, as well. Take it from the Spaniards. The siesta is still a mainstay in the life of Spain’s natives. You need sleep. There is no getting around that. You will find, if you take the time to catch a few zs, your performance as the modern day Superwoman is bound to improve.
Go to the Spa
You and your girlfriends have been talking about it for months. It’s time for that trip to the spa. Pampering yourself from time to time is an absolute necessity. It allows you to escape the pressures of the decision making of your business, gives you much needed time with other friends, and gives your body the sometimes long awaited attention it deserves. Check out a massage chair or get that facial. You deserve it after all.
Take Time to Vegetate
No, we aren’t talking about planting a garden. Although that can be very therapeutic. Take some time to zone out. It’s just as healthy for your mind to take a walk as it is for your body. You will find that those complicated matters at work may work themselves out quicker if you take your brain offline for a while. Sit down and binge watch your favorite show for a few hours. Play a mind numbing video game or grab a blanket and go lay out under the stars for a while and see how many constellations you can name. Letting your mind wander for a little while will not only help you in your business, but will allow you to take in the smaller, sometimes more important, things in life, as well.
Being a successful business woman is a lot like being Superwoman. Just take care of you so you can take care of others.
