3 Tips for Planning A Wedding When You’re Super Busy

When you have a demanding career or personal life, adding more stress and tasks to your plate can be very overwhelming. And while you might be completely thrilled with your upcoming nuptials, finding the time to prepare and plan could seem next to impossible. Luckily, with a little help and some creative thinking, you can still plan a gorgeous wedding that has everything you want while still maintaining your job and your sanity. Speak With Your Boss

Once you get the date set for your wedding, one of the first things you should do is speak to your boss about how this event will potentially affect your life and your work. Most brides require taking a few days off here and there to meet with vendors or take care of other wedding plans, which means you’ll have to get approval for taking time off work. To make this easier on both you and your boss, Jennifer Lazarus, a contributor to, recommends giving your boss notice for when you’ll be gone as far in advance as possible. Not only will this increase the likelihood of getting approval, but it will also make it easier for both you and your coworkers to work around these little hiccups in your normal scheduling.

Create A Master List and Delegate Tasks

If you have very little time to sort out the daily tasks of your wedding, you’re likely going to have to rely on other people to take care of some of these things for you. To ensure nothing gets missed or done twice, Jillian Kramer, a contributor to, recommends making and maintaining a master list of tasks that need to be taken care of. With this, you’ll be able to delegate certain tasks to certain people. With you keeping track of this list, you can still feel in control of what’s going on without having to actually do a lot of the work yourself. But if you don’t have a problem relinquishing control and don’t want this list bogging you down, assign a trusted and responsible friend, family member, or wedding planner to take care of this.

Be Stingy With Your Time

Because you have very little time to spend on the actual tasks related to your wedding planning, you’re going to have to be very stingy with the time you spend actively participating. As a part of this, Amber of suggests only meeting with vendors or other service providers that you’re pretty sure you’ll want to use. If someone is way out of your budget, don’t even waste your time meeting with them. Also, you can save time on things like wedding registries by doing a lot of this work online rather than going to a physical location.
